Keep Your Immune System Fit with Cranberries
by: Terry Foster
To help keep your body’s immune system, organs and cells healthy and balanced- it’s vital to eat all the right foods. The entire immune system needs Vitamin C to function.
Our fruit of choice today? Cranberries!
Did you know that cranberries have natural anti-bacterial properties? Perhaps they are best known for helping treat and prevent cystitis. The condensed tannins they contain prevent bacteria from sticking to the walls of the urinary tract. According to whole-food-supplements-guide.com, compounds in the juice can actually alter antibiotic-resistant strains, making it impossible for the harmful bacteria to trigger an infection.
In place of fresh berries, try dried cranberries, juice or extract instead. For maximum benefit drink a glass of cranberry juice or take 800 mg of extract daily. Whenever possible, drink unsweetened cranberry juice as the sugar suppresses the immune system. Bet you didn’t know how healthy these little berries were. Here’s a delish recipe that’s as pretty as it is healthy.

1-3/4 cups fresh cranberries
Juice of 2 oranges
Juice of 1 grapefruit
